The point-of-sale or point-of-use is the area and time where a business transaction is performed. At this point-of-use, the retail business manager calculates the amount due from the client, prepares an accurate bill for the client, can order an item for the client, and offers the client several options for payment. The retail manager uses this information to decide whether to accept credit cards or debit cards, cash or check, and if so, which type of payment will be used. This information is used by the retail store manager in order to prepare his inventory, to determine his profit margin, and to decide how to manage customer traffic.
